Totland Bay has a delightful small beach with a short esplanade and a privately owned pier. The shingle on the shore changes to fine sand once in the water. Nearby is Alum Bay renowned for its coloured sands and pleasure park with its chair-lift to the beach below.
To the east of Totland are the golden sands of Collwell Bay, a popular family beach with beach huts, windsurfing, canoeing and other water sports.
Surfers are well catered for at Compton which boasts some of the best waves in the UK and diving is popular with many wrecks to explore.
The west coast has many remote and beautiful beaches, accessible from the road or coastal footpath. Discover picturesque villages, whose mellow stone cottages, ancient pubs and churches invite you to stay awhile and explore.
Brighstone, Brook, Shalfleet, Mottistone, Shorwell and Calbourne whose famous Winkle Street has inspired many artists and photographers are all just a few minutes drive from Blenheim Cottage as is Compton bay which inspired us to make the island our home.
